ARDITH’S BABY BLANKIE PATTERN

This blanket is made using the basket weave stitch.

I did it with a size 6 circular needle, but if you want a looser weave and slightly bigger blanket, use a bigger needle. Do not go bigger than a 9.

It takes 5 balls. (of just about anything.)

Cast on 102 stitches.

Knit all the yarn in basket weave stitch.

Cast off before you run out!

I make these when I travel - I have probably made a hundred of them in my lifetime.

I learned to knit from our maid in Mexico when I was 11. She used to make the most gorgeous things and she would let me totally ruin them as I was learning.

We couldn’t really buy patterns, but there was a little yarn shop in the small city where I lived. I think we used to buy our school books in the same shop, so there could not have been much yarn, but to me it was heaven. I used to go in a drool for hours!
