Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

Children must be prayed for night and day.
Elisabeth Elliot says she can remember seeing her father on his knees in his
room, every day before breakfast. When she left for school, she absolutely knew
she had been brought before the Lord.
You may often think you have been ambushed by the things your children do, but
a parent who raises his or her children on the knees has a right to expect wisdom for
the next move.
Brothers and Sisters, is your spouse away from the Lord? Do you feel that your
home is a nest of contention? Are you numb?
The Lord will still welcome your voice and will use you to intercede for your
children. You are not crippled by your mate.
Children need one parent who stands firm and has treasure in heaven. It is great
when both parents are united, but true, Holy Spirit unity in a marriage is a rare thing.
Your children need the net of prayer. You must pray for protection from the world,
you must pray for their spiritual life, and you must pray for your own sight and
wisdom.
As your little ones grow older, they will all make their own mistakes. No child can
operate on your experience alone - he must make his own way in many areas. But
prayer will make you a responder instead of a reactor, and that is how the Lord deals
with us.
Parents, we are Pilgrims, and before us there is a journey to be undertaken. We
must come before the One Who Hung the Stars and submit ourselves in order to
have the power to be the leaders for our children, instead of the possessors of them.
No parent has ever felt he or she did everything right. But prayer has redeemed
many years and many wrong turns.
Stand before Him, available to be changed and to be firm, and He will fully reveal
the next move.
