I suppose this
is primarily for women, but here goes: Are you living for your
children? If so, it is a terrible thing. You are experiencing a loss of time and your children are being blinded. There is a teaching today that implies that mothers must serve their children. But mothers must serve the Lord and train their children to do the same. If a mother thinks she should please her children, she will never have the wisdom to equip her children for anything except self-seeking. It is a seriously grotesque thing when a woman wants the best clothes, the best education, and the best of all advantages for her children. It means she has missed the most important thing and it is the blind leading the blind. Yes, children need to know they are loved. But they will grow up to be seriously insecure if they get all the things they want as children. Is there a fad in your child's school? Don't run out and find a way to get the thing your child wants. Rather, sit down and talk with him. Explain how empty and foolish it is to follow people. If he wants to get the thing and it is not sinful, make him earn the money. Our children need first to learn to be soldiers of the Cross. We are first preparing them for the day when they invite Jesus to be their Lord and King. Then we are training them for service in the army. Stand before the Lord like Hannah and give up your children. Then, you will be able to parent them! |
