We do not
make contingency plans.
It is so easy to try to have everything
covered, and it can prevent us from actually following the plan
of God.
The human imagination is a fantastic
thing - really - that is, of fantasy!
What so often happens is the mind must grab several possibilities,
so that one way or the other, we can see the way clear to do
the thing we think must be done.
This is reinforced in many Christian
self-help books, particularly those concerning relationships.
Following the Lord is not about
seeing if His way is good enough, or fast enough. It is about
accepting His method and His timing. It is about the Cross, and
the death of the flesh, not the preservation of self-will.
Lord,
I know I fall into these things, but more than ever, I want your
way. Please give me a "listening heart" (IKings 3)
and do whatever is needed in me, to make room for your Kingship. |
