There is nothing
that justifies sharpness of the tongue. This is one of the most common sins in the home, and many times the Holy Spirit is quenched because of unconfessed sin in this area. Women in particular, have critical mouths and issue words that are demeaning and punishing in a way that attempts a balance to the alleged offense. But harsh words are a false balance and God hates a false balance. It doesn't mean we have to be gooey and withhold all comment. But it is important to remember that the angels and the demons are listening to you and your words are being noted for all eternity. I'll bet you had not thought of that. If that were real to you, you would make yourself available to the creativity of the Lord when expressing yourself! Next time someone does the unbearable or says the unthinkable, stop for just a minute and take into account that there is a reason the Bible says it it not acceptable to get vindication or to punish the other with your mouth. You speak wisdom - wisdom that makes a capacity in the other respond to Truth. The Lord will settle and solve the issue - not you! |
