How firm a foundation
is Jesus our Lord! What a remarkable quality - He never changes. No opinion, no retribution, no opposing force can ever, ever change Him. And miracle of miracles, He creates the same quality in His soldiers of the Cross. He is gracious enough to know when we need the things that sting so. He knows we must have the situation to develop the habit and skill of resisting the enemy, ignoring the caws of the flesh, and pressing through the opinions of others. If the Soldier is to learn to set his face like flint, he must go through a training. This isn't news, but if you are like I am, you need reminding frequently! Lord, I want to be like you, so please do whatever is needed to bring about your own likeness in and through me. I seem to think I am tired of trials, yet I know you withhold no good thing and that means you are actively working in my deepest places. Lord, take this life and use it to make yourself real to others. Teach me to rest on you - the Rock of Ages - and nowhere else. |
