Daily Devotionals by Ardith Keef

Often when I hear people pray it occurs to me that they don't really think God is listening. It happens when someone is really preachy in prayer or perhaps gets so flowery you know you're the real audience.
Our children need to know what it means to pay careful attention and to be listened to as well.
Parents, make sure your children look at you when you are speaking to them. If they will not look directly at you, firmly turn the little face and make the child make eye contact.  How important this is!
Children need to have your attention as well. I cannot tell you how many times I have seen a child call "mommy, mommy, mommy" over and over, while the mother ignores the child, continuing her own conversation. This should never happen.
You don't have children to construct a happy family. As a servant of the Lord, you have children so that you can give them back to the Lord for anything He wants. That means your job is one of training a person for heaven's service.
Your child needs desperately to know the experience of center-to-center communication. When the Bible is honored as the manual for raising children instead of all of today's experts, a child is trained to realize quite early in life that when he addresses the Living God, there is an infinite Audience.
