Daily Devotional

My memory verse today had a pungent turn of words in it:  "...receive instruction in. . . the discipline of wise thoughtfulness. . ." Proverbs 1:3
Are you aware of your thoughts today? Do they line up with the Word of God? The Bible squarely teaches us that we must have disciplined minds.
We cannot always control the thoughts that come at us, but we are firmly instructed to "lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ ." II Corinthians 10:5
There isn't much written or said about this these days, but God has never been squishy about our attention. And that is what the thought life entails - our attention.
I cannot control my circumstances but I can certainly bow to the Almighty and become aware of my thoughts. My thoughts should be deliberate and constructive - not brain buzzards, circling around worries, problems, or resentments.
How grateful I am for the precious "Along-side One", the Holy Spirit. When we gave our lives to Christ, He who empowers came to live in us!
No more are we little sheets flapping in the wind. We have been born into the Kingdom of Light - the "Kingdom of His Dear Son".
Lord, take all my faculties, and remind me today:
"whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just,              whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely,              whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue,
and if there be any praise, think on these things."
                             Philippians 4:8
